luca meneghel is an italian photographer who specializes in fashion and advertising shoots; his latest work  ‘like dust, i rise’ is a surreal and androgynous photo series that offers new interpretations to the language of fashion. set among large white marble blocks, the photographs include a single model with gray-scale and minimalist clothing. the final images offer dream-like and abstract impressions to the observer.

in this series, luca meneghel introduces two different visual experiences: unity and contrast. in several shots the model appears to blend perfectly with the white setting, reflecting purity and lightness. in others, the woman’s darker outfits against the marble stones create clear opposition and intensity.

both unity and contrast are expressed by abstracting the context through a ‘no-gender’ clothing style and uniform background. in other words, meneghel translates fashion into an ultimate art form with no socially defined concepts of ‘masculine’ or ‘feminine’.
