uniting technology and nature, french artist miguel chevalier has formed ‘trans-natures 2014’ within the stables indoor ring at the historic domaine de chaumont sur loire in france. projected onto a circular pedestal situated at the core of the gallery expanse, plants, roots and flowers generate and develop on the screen, constantly transforming in shape, style and color. virtual gardens and forests fill the room, maintained in a permanent state of metamorphosis and bathed in soft orange light. the digital casts draw reference from an organization system of hierarchical or random data using the growth principle of roots, branches, stems, leaves and flowers.

each plant is born randomly and grows and dies according to its morphogenetic code in a synthetic natural environment that is in constant transformation. through the generative virtual reality installation, chevalier explores in a poetic and metaphorical way, the link existing between nature and artifice.
