mini’s sinful paint job is made naturally with gravity

sinful colors approached brazilian conceptual artist, theo pinto, to transform the brand new 2016 mini cooper clubman s into a functional art piece. the car acted as a blank canvas to showcase the spring/summer revlon-sinful colors nail polish collection using pinto’s signature ‘drip painting’ aesthetic.

over the course of four days, over 120 gallons of popular hues were artfully dripped over the car by theo pinto. the brazilian artist works at the intersection of fine art and design. the visual arts from experiential design, branding, product to print projects are the key areas he explores his concepts from. suspending the car 20ft in the air at a 90 degree angle allowed for hundreds of layers of nail polish to dramatically descend the mobile canvas, making for an impactful art installation.

the multi-colored spectrum creates a surface texture that runs through the body unlike anything typically expected on a brand new vehicle, giving it a fun, exotic appearance. from the perspective of the lines themselves, the gravity has helped to create a sense of natural, progressive movement. fans of the cosmetics company and other passersby were invited to view the performance art take place live at wynwood art group gallery in miami’s growing art district.
