using the self-developed ‘revolvograph’, oscar lhermitte creates stunning imagery for upcoming musician flavien berger. the camera consists of the combination of a high-speed rotating motor with a connected camera. when spinning, the motor makes 30 rotations per second (1800rpm). simultaneously, the camera is able to record at about 30 frames for second, meaning for every captured frame the equipment does one 360° cycle. abstract, moving patterns of color are created from any scene, an effect of the recording’s 1800 rotations per minute

the lens can be mounted at the center of the shaft to create concentric circles, or perpendicular to create horizontal patterns. for flavien berger’s music video ‘88888888’, lhermitte took the camera to outdoor carnivals and fairs, and paired footage alongside scenes captured in his studio
