‘scrollbar by jan robert leegte, 2002 (computer projection, wooden construction, white paint)
artist jan robert leegte explores the cross over between the physical and digital worlds through his art.
one of his areas of interests is translating iconic elements from digital environments into reality.
scrollbars are a frequent feature in these pieces including these two pieces. ‘scrollbar composition’
features a freestanding structure that appears to be a series of digital scrollbars made from wood.
the earlier piece ‘scrollbar’ is similar, buy only featuring a single bar. both works are made from
wood structure painted white with digital projections of the scrollbars overlaid, animating the
scrolling actions.

this looks great. I think it could be improved upon with an OLED surface though instead of a projection, gee you’d have to been darn accurate with projecting such fine elements.
clever
Actually, this is garbage. Looks old already.
I like the idea… after being a slave to my keyboard all day, I go home to get a quick bite… spill the milk… life has no command x, but instinctively I go for it
maybe the only scrollbar is clever. it is cool .. but the others are too too much . it only reminds me some not well planned software, making a lot of noisy windows on the screen, frustrating.
Nice
windows! or what!
looks great…really love this idea
