few can forget the wonder and awe of viewing new spreads in a where’s waldo book — a perplexing yet fascinating labyrinth of tiny characters and color. waldo’s international presence has seen him called ‘wally’ in the UK, ‘walter’ in germany, and ‘charlie’ in france, but his unmistakable striped shirt and cartoonish face has found its way into the lives of young and old alike, across the globe.

in homage to the original illustrated personality, and building upon the universal curiosity he inspires, an instagrammer who goes by the pseudonym @wallyfound has turned himself into a living ‘waldo’. dressed in the character’s signature red and white striped shirt and hat, the anonymous photographer takes to the streets of london, heads inside historic structures, and makes his way to sprawling natural landscapes. the ongoing collection of images captures the brightly-dressed figure traveling from complex interiors of office buildings and libraries, to vast empty beaches and mountainsides. like his predecessor, ‘wallyfound‘ plans to travel the world, hiding in different architectural spaces, urban landscapes and natural panoramas across the globe. ‘everywhere I go, I make lots of new friends and meet new people,’ he tells instagram blog. ‘there are so many amazing countries, languages and cultures. I want to absorb them all.’
