commonly referred to as the ‘spanish banksy’, madrid-based street artist SpY has installed 150 fake CCTV security cameras on a building façade in madrid. his latest intervention stems from the observation of the urban metropolis, re-contextualizing the banal surveillance device by orderly scattering them along a temporary construction site and three-story residential wall. like his previous work, ‘cameras-madrid’ involves the appropriation of urban elements through transformation and replication.
