‘comic art in glass’ combines traditional glass crafting with artistic depictions of classic folklore and stories. created by helsinki-based duo sini majuri and ella varvio — together, tulintu — the series is a hybrid of culture and glass. following international acclaim and multiple showings, tulintu has brought the show back home to finland at the finnish glass museum.

the exhibited works — on show until november 1st, 2015 — were originally created after an invitation to show at the toronto comic arts festival earlier this year. each piece depicts a scene from the fairytale ‘firebird’, which takes readers through a journey of forbidden love. all glass works are uniform in shape, and have a dreamy red-white color palette. sini majuri and ella varvio have been collaborating together full time since 2013; all exhibition wares are produced by hand in their helsinki studio
