Seeing the beautiful wicker weaving took me back 8 years to when I was visiting a friend in Malawi. She bought a beautiful large scale replica of a Lake Malawi ferry steamer totally woven out of local reeds. It even had moving parts. We saw the teenager selling it by the side of the road, so quickly screeched to a halt ,did a U-turn and got to him quickly enough in order to buy it. My only regret that I didn't buy it. The African continent is full of wonderful artisans and artists with incredible ideas. Thank-you for exposing them to the rest of the world.

Have to send this to the World Market buyer! Wrapping crappy cars in wicker is so much more original then making something unique out of wicker.

I think we can all learn from Mr. obaniyi's beautiful application of his craft. Look around us at our surroundings and see what we can do to use the materials of craft to enhance the spaces we live in. Maybe I can't cover my poor aging vehicle with basketry But perhaps I can cover the worn seats with my handwoven material. Then maybe I could do the headliner. I could create a fence from the branches of a tree that fell over in my yard last fall. And maybe I could do what one of my neighbors did: make a hanging from oddments of discarded metal that together are a delightful design. What can you do?

It would be better if the car was made of craft instead of (only) craft-wrapped.
