 BECK' S PRIZE design a key and what it opens --- title: open your mind # : 945 trevor thomas from south africa  designer's own words: 'OPEN YOUR MIND' The idea is simple and initiates the viewer to - stop and think. One then reaches for a bottle of Beck's. Open Your Mind. There is always a way to open a bottle of beck's and enjoy a swig of some fine beer, be it at home when you've lost your favorite opener, outdoors with a handy cigarette lighter or with anything you can find to open a fresh bottle of Beck's - this project celebrates that process. The following approach takes an everyday object and relates it to the process of drinking a beer. The object is the key, the beer is what it opens. Your mind is the medium. The simplicity of the objects is contrasted by the 365 Beck's bottle layout. The layout implies a thought process and takes on the shape of a bottle top. This in turn leads the viewer to the product and the idea of opening it. Having found myself opening a bottle of Beck's on many occasions with implements of all sorts, I felt the celebration and process to be most enjoyable, not to mention the great beer that follows.
