01 - the subject of the international competition is
‘THE RADICAL RADIATOR OF THE FUTURE’

for twenty-five years BISQUE RADIATORS has pioneered innovative radiator design in the UK radiator market.
we are now looking for new ideas to revolutionise central heating radiator design in the future.

02 – awards
the designers of 3 winning entries will be granted with cash prize awards
- first prize Euro 3,000
- second prize Euro 2,000
- third prize Euro 1,000

winning entries and a selection of the works sent in will be shown
in early 2007 in either milan or london.

BISQUE RADIATORS undertakes, in the event that it uses for production one of
the designs submitted for the contest (wholly or in part), to pay a royalty
of 1% of annual sales.

designboom will publish an exhaustive results report.

04 - design criteria
please don't send in vague concepts, but go a step further.

the designs must satisfy the following four criteria:

1. original / innovative design
they should not look like any existing designs.

2. attractive design
they should have popular, aesthetic appeal.

3. heat output
a good heat output can be achieved when the total surface area of all the radiator components is at least 1m2.

4. low manufacturing cost
uncomplicated designs are cheaper to manufacture and are therefore more likely to sell in quantity.

05 – registration deadline
application registration will be accepted through to

06 - registration
teams register with one name only
(when submitting works you should add all team member’s names).
there is a maximum enrollment, registration may close prior to that deadline.

07 - submit your entry / entries
whether you're an individual or group, you can submit max.3 works.

for each work you will be requested to supply:
1 - up to 3 files (images or a composition of more images) of your project.
please note: use only .gif, .jpeg, (72 dpi) max 100 kb each file.
image size max 600 (width) x 700 (height) pixels.

2 - explanation of ideas
a brief description of your work.
(english text only, explanation is expected to be concise)

3 - you will be requested to accept the competition guidelines
(competition guidelines:
projects participating to the competition, must be original works.
projects must be free from copyrights and any kind of obligation.
the design shall not in any way infringe any third party’s right,
including but not limited to copyright, logos, trademark, trade names,
or other proprietary rights of publicity or privacy.
only entries with a declaration of authorship are accepted !)

08 – deadline for submission of entries
works can be submitted through to november 10th, 2006

10 - copyright
any moral and paternity right regarding the project sent in for application is designer’s property.

however,
by submitting a design in the competition, the participant agrees to provide
BISQUE RADIATORS with the right of first refusal to the exclusive use of
the design. this option is valid until may 30th 2007.
in the event that BISQUE RADIATORS exercises the option to use the rights
for production on an exclusive basis and sine die (without time limitations),
BISQUE RADAITORS undertakes to pay a royalty of 1% of annual sales.

and,
by participating in the competition, all participants authorise designboom
and BISQUE RADIATORS to publish and exhibit all the designs
(including project data submitted) – waiving compensation – at exhibitions and events
and/or to use them in any publications that the organisers may deem suitable and/or necessary.
