graphic designer stefan gandl is part of the designer shock team
and neubauwelt, a design agency based in berlin, germany.

in 2003 the creative force behind designshock released 'ds os1'
published by die gestalten verlag.
the book went on to become hugely popular,
it combined various graphic disciplines, typography,
multimedia and illustration. the publication involved readers
as the accompanying cd-rom allowed for interaction with
on and offline screen-based material.
the cd-rom allowed the user to play games and win typefaces.

the new release 'neubau welt' by stefan gandl again
published by gestalten, shows work from the
designer's new studio.
the book acts as a modern-day 'letraset' and features
over 1000 vector based drawings of a variety of objects.
the illustrations range from plants to pants and are broken
into three categories. 'neu' features objects
created by humans such as furniture, buildings and machinery.
'bau' focuses on life and includes people from all walks of life.
‘welt’ is made up from plants and animals, butterflies to berries.
the book comes complete with a cd that has all the images
from the book in EPS format along with three new typefaces.
the rights to use the images are included in the purchase price and
this is extremely useful to designers who are in need of
clear visuals quickly. the pictograms are clean and easy to edit.
the book also features some conceptual work said to convey
'the map of neubauwelt'. these pieces are made up of
freehand illustrations and vector based images from the book.

'neubau welt' provides good solid graphics for everyone to use
and takes the painstaking hours of
accurate vector drawings away. the breadth of the material gives
the buyer a source as vast as they should need and is put
together in a clean, modern aesthetic providing an
excellent resource for designers.
