grow more fish! this year's design yearbook is edited by dutch designer
marcel wanders. wanders' fore word, titled 'grow more fish'
tells us to do more, inspire and communicate. he gives the
message that designers should be in the position of connecting communities and create as many opportunities
as possible - pushing comfortable boundaries to optimise
our lives.
like each previous annual, it takes a look at the year's
highlights in the world of design. this book is a useful guide
to the trends of 2005, and well guided by a design 'insider'.
content...
wanders’ inclusions range from disposable underwear to
an inflatable mobile office space. 2005‘s key technologies
are also inside, the washing machine from dyson and apple's
mini i-pod.each of the designs are illustrated with the superb photography that earnt the series it's reputation. technical information is provided for each entry and the reference
section gives a comprehensive list of suppliers’ names
and addresses, as well as biographies of the designers.
is it for me? with so many design guides available, whether specified by
furniture type, designer, manufacturer etc it is often difficult which to choose. however this guide groups everything into
one book. the selection comes from a person involved with
the contemporary design scene and so is accurate in terms
of what is seen as significant to the industry now. if you are
interested in all areas of design ‘the international design
yearbook 2005’ is a good chronicle of the years most talked
about pieces and provides a good source of reference.
