title: FOLDED CARDBOARD STOOL
# : 1142
name : MICHAEL ZIMMERMANN
gender : male
age : 37
city :  minneapolis
state : USA

designer's comment :
cardboard stool folded from 4'x4' cardboard sheet.
this stool developed from a folded paper design exploration involving many small folded joints.
scoring in the cardboard allows the sheet to collapse in on itself.
clear tape secures the exposed edge.

title: PIANO
# : 1232
name : CEDRIC DECROUX / YVES FIDALGO / AXEL JACCARD (FULGURO)
gender : male
age : -
city : lausanne
state : switzerland

designer's comment :
itconsists of 5 wood pieces held together by piano-hinges. the back is a
net-like fabric giving a tension to the structure to stabilize it. It also
lets the chair's structure appear.
when unfolded, the object's shape reminds us of a very archetypal chair
silhouette. the chair folds like a cardboard package and flatens entirely to let us see
a strange bidimensional object, a drawing that you clip on a wall. It plays
with the graphical matter that lies within any tridimensional object.
materials and techniques of construction: simple and lowcost
object: light and strong
Development: colours, finitions, other pieces of furniture (table, bed and
cupboards)

designer's comment :
charles eames was one of the first to press 2D plywood in 3D
objects using high-tech production methods.
I reverse this idea.
as charles eames moulded his foldings, I unfold charles his
mouldings. by un-moulding the lounge chair wood to a flat
square surface, it shows straight lines pop-up that seem to give
you the possibility to fold your own LCW.
the material in which you do this isn't relevant.
the chair has become a flat surface therefore it can be
printed on any flat material.
