as the first one of its kind in southeast asia, keisuke fujiwara designed issey miyake’s ‘pleats please’ clothing store with a futuristic and minimalistic approach. the overall interior is that of a barreled, vault-like structure with hanger fixtures extending out of the installed architectural elements, providing a tension within the space. the vaulted construction also transforms into necessary walls and shelf fixtures in which miyake’s clothing designs are displayed. the store’s white canvas provides a clean backdrop to showcase the brightly colored products and provides a flatness and lightness to the interior design.
