------------------------------------------------------ COCIF DESIGN AWARD 2005 C A L L - F O R - E N T R I E S designboom and COCIF international design competition. participation is open to applicants from every country in the world, to professionals, students, and design-enthusiasts. free registration required. --- 01 - the subject of the international competition is ‘a door to paradise’ we are looking for a timeless HOME INTERIOR door design, which takes into account formal and technological innovation, its ease of use, originality and practicality for manufacturing. a broad variety of materials might be used: wood, metal, glass, plastics,... --- 02 – awards the designers of 5 winning entries will be granted with cash prize awards - first prize Euro 5000 - the jury will also award 4 honorable mentions / Euro 1000 each winning entries and a selection of the works sent in will be shown at the next milan design week, april 13 - 18,  2005. COCIF undertakes, in the event that it uses for production one of the designs submitted for the contest (wholly or in part), to pay a forfeit fee of Euro 500 to purchase the rights for production on an exclusive basis and sine die (without time limitations). in that case a royalty of 3% of annual sales will also be paid. and as always… designboom will publish an exhaustive results report.   --- 03 – the jury is composed of peter gabriel, musician philippe starck, designer oliviero toscani, photographer luca trazzi, (designboom) --- 04 - design criteria please don't send in vague concepts, but go a step further. as COCIF wishes to produce some of the most interesting door projects, please consider the feasibility of manufacturing. - especially if your proposal is a high tech door or a door-art project - the jury will award designs and concepts which are innovative in terms of their formal / technological aspects as well as their functional ones. projects should not be currently in production ! --- 06 – registration deadline application registration will be accepted through january 20, 2005 --- 07 - registration registrations are now closed please fill in the form. teams register with one name only - when submitting works you should add all team member’s names. (there is a maximum enrollment, registration may close prior to that deadline) --- 08 - submit your entry / entries whether you're an individual or group, you can submit max.3 works. --- we invite you to use our new on-line publishing system which allows all designers to publish their projects directly on our server, making the jury process faster and more transparent. as the designer, you can publish, verify and modify the lay-out of your page. the new system will allow a larger number of designs to be visible to the designboom public, thus giving designers greater visibility. you will be requested to supply: 1 - up to 3 files (images or a composition of more images) of your project. please note: use only .gif, .jpeg, (72 dpi) max 100 kb each file. image size max 600 (width) x 700 (height) pixels. --- if you are not able to reduce the size of your file please see the tutorial on how reduce the size of your file with photoshop. --- - the original high-resolution image(s) will be requested if your work is selected for the exhibition - 2 - explanation of ideas a brief description of your work. (english text only, explanation is expected to be concise) 3 - you will be requested to accept the competition guidelines (competition guidelines: projects participating to the competition, must be original works. projects must be free from copyrights and any kind of obligation. the design shall not in any way infringe any third party’s right, including but not limited to copyright, logos, trademark, trade names, or other proprietary rights of publicity or privacy. only entries with a declaration of authorship are accepted !) * regarding the copyrights issue we wish to remind you that all participants shall be liable for any damage caused to any third party's right, including the aforementioned. *** designboom's new publishing feature offers you autonomous entry presentation. this service gives you maximum control on how your ideas will be presented to the jury. therefore we invite you to join it. if you are new to digital publishing systems and do not feel confident to publish on your own, you might wish to send us your entry via email to mail@designboom.com (please fill in the subject line: a door to paradise) we accept only entries after previous registration trough this publishing system. --- 09 – deadline for submission of entries works can be submitted through january 30, 2005. --- 10 - copyright any moral and paternity right regarding the project sent in for application is designer’s property.   however by participating in the competition, the participant authorises COCIF to option the exclusive use of all the shortlisted designs. this option is valid until december 31, 2005.
