in cooperation with

‘tokyo style in stockholm’
5-10 august 2004 (every year)
http://www.tokyostyle.se

swedish creators have long been fascinated and inspired
by this japanese culture and lifestyle.
this august, during three intensive days in gothenburg
and six busy days in stockholm, locals will be able to
take part of tokyos unique contemporary culture
and creative lifestyle.
under the theme ‘urbanism & underground’ and through
collaborations, exhibitions, performances, screenings,
workshops, lectures etc. these cross-cultural festivals feature
major works in the field of japanese contemporaray architecture,
design, fashion, dance, art, photography, film, theatre, music,
gardening and technology.

japanese low-budget street art, as posters, stickers...,
has become an important part of the urban public space,
and tokyo’s creatives bring some of it over to sweden.

‘tokyo style...’ is a platform where people from two
different cultures can meet, exchange experiences and learn
from eachother . the goal is to stimulate the local cultural life,
develop longterm working relationships and open up for
new business oppertunities.

in stockholm : museums, galleries, stages,
department stores, shops, hotels and restaurants all
chip in to house the japanese invasion.

in gothenburg: most of the events during ‘tokyo style in
gothenburg’ is gonna take place at the cultural building
röda sten, http://www.rodasten.com
but the festival will also spread to other venues
and galleries around central gothenburg.
there will be a special ‘tokyo style art tram’ were
designers are going to replace the usual advertisment
with contemporary japanese art.
