designer's own words:

Urban Balloon Parking

The proposal challenges conventional urban parking by utilising the air space above the city as a means of solving a wholly terranean problem. The impatience and relentless desire for speed and power associated with the car is playfully juxtaposed with the peacefulness and delicacy of the balloon. City dwellers are greeted with the image of their vehicles suspended outside their 17th floor office window. Parking spaces and white lines become obsolete.

Three sealed super-pressure balloons suspend a car above the city, tethered to the ground outside the owner’s home or place of work, maintaining a steady altitude until recalled to the ground by winch. As the need for parking increases, the city skyline becomes filled with these floating giants, gently bobbing up and then down again as people return to collect their cars.
