LEDLITWYCINANKI

LEDLITWYCINANKI by Marta Wajda from poland

designer's own words:

The idea that stands behind this design comes from an old tradition characteristic to certain region of Poland. Wycinanki originated in the nineteenth century when eastern European peasants could readily obtain inexpensive, colored paper to decorate their homes. They cut intricate designs with scissors and affixed the finished art to whitewashed walls and wooden beams to achieve a cheerful appearance. In this case the cutout is of different material i.e. Plexiglas and therefore goes along well with LED qualities. When cutout and lit the plexi will glow with its edges. By multiplying the plexi – wycinanki one obtains a glowing three-dimensional curious object!
