The invasion of the digital images nowadays is notable, the people have access to the diverse devices of capture and edition of the images like cameras and softwares. Within this context is that the project of the digital placemats takes its place.
Using the technology, popularly known as electronic paper, that is nothing else than a flexible screen that can be rolled as a paper, it has been possible to create a concept in which the user will select the decoration of his table on the InterNet or in his digital camera. It will be possible to decorate the table with any subject, from thematic subjects, as Christmas to institucional subjects for the meeting of a determined company. Kid’s subjects to stimulate eating habits, family photos and roses of any color for a romantic dinner.
The device has basic controls of selection of the image, an entry for a memory card and a menu of access to the most complex functions, as brightness and contrast. This menu can be controlled by touchscreen technology, located in a thin layer that protects the system of the heat of the dishes. Very small “superbatteries” take care of the energy and they will be normally commercialized in 2020, as a battery of a clock nowadays.
The device functions in the following way: the user turns it on, downloads the images selecting most adequate to the occasion, adjusts the brightness, the color, the contrast and later disconnect the screen, therefore the electronic paper is capable to continue showing the same
image without power.
The digital placemats represent a strong trend that even the decoration of the house will be digital.
