designboom and DuPont's international design competition theme: DuPont Corian® for a food & coffee bar results ! -------------------------- top 30 nominations # 1269 title: lunch box name : doh partnership are daniel liden, risa sano, yasuyuki sakurai + george walker sex : - age : - city : london state : uk --- lunch-box is an outdoor cafe selling coffee and snacks in a public space. since the space is public, the principal idea is to make a facility which sections off the minimum amount of private space to provide the café services, while maximising the part for open public use. the café part is a regular cube with a façade that raises to display a back-lit open, sign made by routing the rear side of the corian. the rest is an apparently random jumble of corian beams which provide a variety of seating and a play-space for younger children. coffeebean corian provides a durable but warm surface.   ---  back to the competition results index ---  ------- monthly designboom newsletter ------- ------- ? comments and contact us ? -------  |
