designboom and DuPont's international design competition theme: DuPont Corian® for a food & coffee bar results ! -------------------------- top 30 nominations # 196 title: - name : angela ferrandiz sex : female age : 33 city : nieul state : france --- my starting point was thinking about my ideal cafe experience- unwinding, relaxing, enjoying.... which gave birth to my concept 'unwind'- I began by playing with ribbons & wanted a fairly organic form with a modularity about it. there are a couple of reasons why this design is best suited to corian: 1. 19mm corian is sufficiently strong to support human weight + allow that extent of curvature without a substrate. 2. seemless joining- giving no clue to where the den actually begins or ends. each den is made up of two identical pods, but it appears to be one form.   ---  back to the competition results index ---  ------- monthly designboom newsletter ------- ------- ? comments and contact us ? -------  |
