designboom and DuPont's international design competition theme: DuPont Corian® for a food & coffee bar results ! -------------------------- top 30 nominations # 2015 title: inside corian name : raf dauwe sex : male age : 27 city : berlin state : germany --- entering the food & coffee bar seems like entering inside the material corian. the design of the bar is a kind of 'hyper-space' based upon the characteristics of corian. A 3-dimensional frame of steel pipes defines roughly the shape of the bar. It can be free standing or be build inside an existing room. inside it is covered with corian panels, curved over the frame. backlit at different points. people are sitting on or leaning against the curved wall being in direct contact with the material (enjoying its silk-like touch). the bar becomes an informal social space using all corian´s features.
