designboom and DuPont's international design competition theme: DuPont Corian® for a food & coffee bar results ! -------------------------- top 30 nominations # 426 title: inhabitable bar - scape name : dan narita sex : male age : 23 city : london state : uk --- inhabitable bar - scape is based on interlacing, volumetric bands. these bands freely hover in space and define new rooms. each band is coded with a function. due to the nature of intervowen bands the functions become merged. It's up to the user to choose how to occupy them. the design invites people to gather, socialize in large or small groups, to eat ,drink and relax. the entire bar is put together with corian boards which are seamlessly joined to render each band as solid, volumetric pieces.internally, volumes are backlit to make the bands appear like glowing volumes in space.     ---  back to the competition results index ---  ------- monthly designboom newsletter ------- ------- ? comments and contact us ? -------  |
