01 - the subject of the international competition is
‘teenage furniture’

any idea of what’s ‘cool’?
don’t underestimate the power of posters -
but there is more to come...
fill in the gap between teenagers and furniture.
adolescent essence is of pop and rock, music videos and I pods,
fashion, arts, film dvds, on-line chats, instant messaging, hanging out with friends ...
we are seeking design ideas for furniture for the places where teenagers
study, relax and socialize. we are in pursuit of designs which compliment and
sum up contemporary living and technology.
furniture that is multifunctional yet personal.
a broad range of materials are accepted.

02 – awards
the designers of 10 winning entries will be granted with cash prize awards
- first prize Euro 3000
- second prize Euro 2000
- third prize Euro 1000
and the jury will award 7 honorable mentions with Euro 500 each.

*** Cow by NSR undertakes, in the event that it uses for production one of
the designs submitted for the contest (wholly or in part), to pay a royalty
of 2.5% of annual sales.

and as always…
designboom will publish an exhaustive results report.

04 - design criteria
please don't send in vague concepts, but go a step further.
as Cow by NSR wishes to produce some of the most interesting projects,
please consider the feasibility of manufacturing.
the jury will award designs and concepts which are innovative in terms of
their formal aspects as well as their functional ones.
projects should not be currently in production !

05 - explanation of the target group
in may 2004 time magazine had the question ‘what makes teenagers tick’.
the article delves into the physiological changes that take place in this age group -
... in short: hormones and structural changes in the brain cause unpredictable,
incomprehensible mood swings and an inner conviction of 'knowing it all'
.
this is your typical household 'teenager' (age 12-18).

application registration will be accepted through january 30, 2005

08 - submit your entry / entries
whether you're an individual or group, you can submit max.3 works.

you will be requested to supply:
1 - up to 3 files (images or a composition of more images) of your project.
please note: use only .gif, .jpeg, (72 dpi) max 100 kb each file.
image size max 600 (width) x 700 (height) pixels.

the tutorial on how reduce the size of your file with photoshop.

2 - explanation of ideas
a brief description of your work.
(english text only, explanation is expected to be concise)

3 - you will be requested to accept
the competition guidelines
(competition guidelines:
projects participating to the competition, must be original works.
projects must be free from copyrights and any kind of obligation.
the design shall not in any way infringe any third party’s right,
including but not limited to copyright, logos, trademark, trade names,
or other proprietary rights of publicity or privacy.
only entries with a declaration of authorship are accepted !)

09 – deadline for submission of entries
works can be submitted through february 12 2005.

10 - copyright
any moral and paternity right regarding the project sent in for application is
designer’s property.

however,
by submitting a design in the competition, the participant agrees to provide
Cow by NSR products pty ltd. with the right of first refusal to the exclusive use of
the design. this option is valid until 31 july 2005.
in the event that Cow by NSR exercises the option to use the rights for production
on an exclusive basis and sine die (without time limitations),
Cow by NSR undertakes to pay a a royalty of 2.5% of annual sales.

and,
by participating in the competition, all participants authorise designboom
and Cow by NSR to publish and exhibit all the designs (including project data submitted)
– waiving compensation – at exhibitions and events and/or to use them in any
publications that the organisers may deem suitable and/or necessary.

was an executive director and still is the largest share holder of funtastic limited.
