as one of the ‘four designers of the future’ at design miami/ basel 2008, martino gamper presented new work inside the markthalle basel. each of the designers were commissioned by design miami/ to create new works using concrete and wool and document the creative process of the work with a short video.

‘for the designers of the future exhibition, I chose to emphasize working with concrete in the form of terazzo.
terazzo is traditionally used as a floor wal covering, made by layering marble or stone chips in mortar and
then grinding them to a polished level surface. I have created a series of low and high tables, while using
this special terazzo mosaic technique. in the process i used a brass frame work as the formwork for pouring
the terazzo concrete mix. once the mix hardened the top surface was polished and wooden legs added
to the bottom’. MG
