‘orto perpetuo’ enables indoor cultivation of fruits and vegetables throughout the year, bringing countryside farming to an urban setting with the help of artificial lighting. the indoor hydroponic garden is a collaborative project between antonio scarponi, bulbo and piccolo vegs for pots. the prototype — presented at fuori salone 2014 — is an imitation of the various colors and textures which make up a natural vegetable garden. unlike countryside vegetation, the ‘orto perpetuo’ accommodates indoor use for various types of environments with little usage of energy.

initiated by the urban agriculture survival kit exhibition, the hydroponic system is made out of ikea boxes, quadra, and a 14w LED light, which activates the growth of bulbo produced vegetables. the modular edible garden can grow up to 24 plants, fitting in a 65 x 95 cm container, and consumes less than 50 watts.
