as in many works by atelier bam, ‘berimbau’ is a set of versatile yet simple objects, primitive and poetic, contemporary and spontaneous, reflecting the company and the local culture of brazil. they are pendant lights, where a single weight and a slot instinctively replace a complex joint and expose their mechanisms.

each lamp of the series is made of three major elements: the reflector, the socket with the electric wire, and the weight. to rotate the reflector, all users need to do is pull the weight and move it in the desired direction. ‘we wanted to give the user the full command of the focus of the light,’ said the studio.

the suspended pendant light was created alongside a table and floor light for traditional brazilian brand bertolucci, a company entirely dedicated to the country, valuing the national design and manufacturing on its soil since 1956. accordingly, it was important that this collection expresses the nation.
