'bamboo globe' by fabio luciani

danish designer kristoffer zeuthen has created 'bamboo globe'. introduced to raise awareness and gain respect for our planet,
the 25cm diameter globe highlights how beauty can be synonymous with environmental friendliness.
the object uses a clean typeface for the lettering in addition to incorporating current cartography. the base is made from bamboo
and the white steel rod replicates the globe's natural tilt. inside, the product is outfitted with a lightbulb
so that it can double as a desk lamp if needed.

  • makes me even more aware of the fact that bamboo is a resource that must be transported from the other side of the globe

    so eco!

on the other hand, it is a lovely object

    dbkii says:
  • I think its lovely but it needs more detail to be useful.

    charles says:
  • Sustainable the bamboo may be, but the globe will be obsolete/inaccurate as soon as a boundary changes–probably in a year.

I’d love to see a photo of the globe as a light!

The bamboo grain lines appear to converge toward the poles–that must be an extremely interesting construction process–I’d love to see it explained.

    Uosis says:
  • I like it very much this artwork…

    Juan Carlos Lijerón says:
  • I found this link from Gizmodo but i don’t quite understand. Is it just for show? Can you actually purchase it somewhere? I want one.

    Gavs says:
  • It\’s a perfect made design object. Well done. Can I buy one like this?? Seriously
