when asked to redesign ‘studio a – the flagship store’ of the audio brand AIAIAI, the newly established danish design studio of borg bruckner turned the challenges into the solution, so to speak. the TMA-2 headphones can be configured in hundreds of ways and the designers wanted to create a system that could showcase and highlight that, but also be used for displaying the other products sold in the shop.

the overall idea was to make a flexible interior that could change or evolve according to the needs of the brand and the modular product – and work within the small space. having the option of moving things around to accommodate different scenarios. since the TMA series references the functionalism of industrial tools and products, an obvious choice was to seek inspiration in the modular display systems, found in factories and on workshops tool walls.

borg bruckner often uses or incorporates readymade materials, originally made for industrial purposes, into their products and interiors solutions. high-quality and non-designed materials, that when used in the right environment and context, can have a great impact, presence and a long lasting life. to go more into detail, a standard perforated wall system, with a pattern that also fits the identity of TMA-2 packaging, was chosen and custom powder coated. it serves as the element that literally binds everything together.

other elements of the design solution are also directly of the shelf. the plastic boxes are mass-produced in standard sizes that would fit on a pallet and chosen for their rugged look and color. the tables are made from a pipe clamping system, normally used in factories that can be combined in endless possibilities. in connection with that, the monochrome color palette was continued, also helping all elements work together, in a close connection with the minimal looks of the product and brand identity.
