‘bunches of grapes’ light by carmela rubio of 19bis creativos

as a child, vending machines with baubles housing little trinkets and figurines were always a treat when you were given a coin to put into the machine to retrieve a prize. as soon as the bauble bounced its way out of the machine you’d quickly open it, fascinated by which toy you got. but, what did you do with the plastic bubble the toy came in.

carmela rubio from spain’s 19bis creativos has taken those spheres of plastic and designed ‘bunches of grapes’, a lamp made from those balls which are normally thrown in the trash. the use of the simple, unassuming material results in a low cost lighting model which can be be hung anywhere a little extra light is needed.
