the ‘carbon wood bike’ is the result of merging talents of father and son, effectively fusing young design thinking with practiced wood-working craftsmanship. to construct a bicycle entirely made of wood would be far too heavy, and most likely too weak as well. contemplating the problem, the studio –also named carbon wood bikes — arrived at the decision to incorporate carbon fiber. by combining the material with wood, it would not only give the bike its signature aesthetic, but it would also lower the weight, and strengthen the form considerably

the frame is entirely handcrafted — including the saddle and handlebar — with layers of bent ash, mahogany and carbon fiber. weighing in at just over nine kilos. once completed with carbon fiber components, the bike is as sturdy as any aluminum or steel frame. ‘carbon wood bike’ was designed and built in italy
