the dutch designer furnished a sidewalk with an leather upholstered bench

originally conceived for the ‘foolproof & public space’ event in rotterdam, the ‘chesterfield park bench’ reconsiders the traditional conventions of street infrastructure–offering something a bit more comfortable and cozy–by eliminating the ‘fool proofing’ aspect generally applied to structures installed in outdoor public areas as a means of preventing vandalism. joost goudriaan has taken the stereotypical concrete and wood park bench and has transformed it into something that is a bit more ‘upscale’, complete with a leather upholstered tufted seat and back, along with walnut wood and gold stud details, finished using traditional crafting techniques.
