closca: urban folding bicycle helmets

combining an innovative compression safety system and attractive aesthetics, valencia-based closca has developed an urban folding helmet that functions as a potential life-saver and fashion accessory. joined together with straps, the telescopic design expands and collapses in three different sections – all of which absorb the impact in the case of a crash. in reducing its volume to just under 50% when compared to traditional helmets, the ‘closca’ can be easily stowed away inside a backpack, messenger bag or tote bag when note, as it packs into a flat book-like form when not in use. conceived with its own built-in ventilation system, it allows consistent air flow when cycling. in addition to its folding capabilities, the helmet is also compatible with different interchangeable textile covers.

the closca urban helmet is currently seeking funding on kickstarter.
