marking a significant departure from their usual clientele (google, apple, nike and sephora and vogue japan to name a few) international design duo craig & karl have teamed up with australian toilet paper company and social enterprise who gives a crap (WGAC) to create a series of bold and playful toilet paper wrappers. since 2012, the ethically conscious company has continually challenged perceptions around toilet paper, transforming the typically unglamorous and utilitarian product into a beautifully designed, environmentally friendly offering. the tounge-in-cheek designs by the graphic artists display five different patterns which each detail a different human feature – eye, ear, nose, mouth or finger.

the unique business model, which was founded in melbourne, helps provide access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene education in the developing world. they also contribute 50 percent of all their profits to building toilets in countries which are in most need of them. craig and karl state that ‘a big part of the appeal in working with the socially conscious who gives a crap was the company’s thoughtfulness that goes beyond the consumers immediate needs.’ the collaboration produces more than just a humorous spin on the usual mundane sanitary packaging, but instead introduces a meaningful and attractive way to spread its sustainable message.
