congratulations to all those who entered in our INFINITI DIGITAL ART COMPETITION: curved visions.
the second phase is coming to an end and the jury has selected the shortlisted entries.
with the success of the first INFINITI DIGITAL ART COMPETITION: inspired performance,
designboom is pleased to begin to publish some of the participants.  the winning designs being announced in april 2013.

‘curved for INFINITI’ by alexandr morgun of ukraine is one of the shortlisted entries. his project invites visitors to the
japanese car brand’s showrooms and other international events to ‘become part of the performance’.
his interactive installation employs techniques similar to that of light painting, summoning individuals to create their own
unique ‘curve’ for INFINITI. upon entry into various INFINITI happenings, people will be asked to paint outlines of cars
in the air using a flashlight. their actions would be captured via camera, with the shutter speed set at an exposure time of
7-10 seconds. these images would then become the backdrop for vehicles being presented on the show floor of the various venues,
constantly changing, bringing a sense of movement to the space where they are projected. this article illustrates the possibility
of documented images…

artist’s statement:

first of all, I liked the fact that this theme does not limit one, but to dream up. almost everything around us is made up of lines.
the human body, mountains, houses, music, tone of voice – all of these things contain the base of a line. a line causes certain emotions.
when it is straight and connects points at a sharp angle,  it causes a certain tension, conservatism, accuracy, a foundation, a dogma.
but when the line becomes curved it is like a breath of fresh air, it brings a sense of peace, freedom and ease. happy moments become infinite.
the theme ‘curved lines’ has given me the opportunity to touch perfection, using the tools available to me – fantasy, music, graphics.
my unique project offers different people the opportunity to create infinite lines of a car. a man can draw line of infinity in the air using light
and we capture this moment. and what do we see? each line is unique, it conveys its character, some encrypted code that will bring a more
spirited connection to the car and its owner.’
