the ‘shrink collection’ by multidisciplinary design studio daast, comprises of a chair, rocker, mirror and cabinet which all combine the use of american oak wood, aluminum and most interestingly, rubberized heat shrink plastic. this material, most commonly used to join electrical wires, is applied over the metal legs to create a solid, circular appearance from afar, yet a grainy textured, four-sided shape when viewed up close. creating an unexpected and physically light presence, this tactile frame links the traditional timber turned legs to the furniture’s upper body, be it a cabinet, seat or brass mirror.
