based on the idea of a prominent belly, contained by a belt, the ‘bloated collection’ by belgium designer damien gernay is still a comfortable piece that puffs its shape up for sitting on. this collection is a dialogue between a rigid structure and a flexible skin. the bloated collection is made out of sheets of leather, filled with expanded foam. there are no complicated moulds applied, and no seams are used in the production. inflating in a natural way, the leather makes each piece look unique. the bloated collection is on display at mint gallery in london until 30 September 2013, and feature at the london design festival 2013, which is open from 14 to 22 September.
