to help realize ‘flotsam & jetsam’, SHoP enlisted chattanooga-based fabrication firm branch technology — a studio that is working to use 3D printing as full-scale, practical means of construction.

SHoP also chose oak ridge national laboratory (ORNL) to provide a second material printing technology — biodegradable bamboo print medium — a material capable of enormous output sizes. ORNL currently holds a world record for largest 3D printed object, but will surpass that accomplishment with the completion of a bar at SHoP’s design miami/ installation.

dassault systèmes will manage the project, working alongside SHoP and its structural engineering partners thornton tomasetti.
