‘les choses’ is a reverse cabinet, in which the content usually stored within, becomes the container. dossofiorito brings old family tools into the furniture piece with a fossilized effect achieved in stoneware, with the instruments systematically arranged on its exterior. in their physical absence, the objects project super presences standing not solely as graphic signs, but also retaining some aspect of their original materiality.

the storage unit is part of the exhibition ‘l’essence du beau’ (‘the essence of beauty’) curated by sam baron at the biennale internationale design saint-etienne 2015 until april 12th. issued by the ESADSE (saint-etienne higher school of art and design), the show brings forth pieces which have been created to project intrinsic nature or indispensable quality of an object, and what defines its character.  ‘l’essence du beau’ immerses visitors in a dictionary of products, an organized cabinet of curiosities that stimulates their perception by means of unusual representations of ideas. dossofiorito les chose saint etienne biennale designboom
