elizabeth lee is a london based jewellery designer who explores the interaction between material and the human form. her ‘digital interlude’ design collection investigates the idea of a ‘digital veil’ surrounding the body, formed of microscopic crystal coloured pixels. the series consists of head pieces, bracelets, rings and a bag which wrap around one’s frame to reveal a shimmering halo.

the series draws upon the term ‘bokeh’ – an aesthetic blurry quality rendered in a photographic display where parts of the image remain out of focus in response to light. elizabeth lee developed each piece by colouring digital acetate material with RGB colours including cyan, magenta and yellow. when the color dried and soaked into the material, she then individually cut the printed hexagons onto the supporting structures. the overall aim was to develop a technological appearance, which has been achieved by creating a set of glittering jewellery pieces that blur and distort the body in a shimmering display.
