the pieces form part of the ‘play it’ collection, exhibited as part of the event’s SingaPlural collection. the family of objects – which includes a spinning table, a rocking stool and a swinging bar stool – has been crafted to stimulate and recall early childhood memories.

the coffee table, titled ‘spinny’, references the spinning top – a popular children’s toy. while the central part of the tabletop remains in place, the outer part can be rotated, allowing its user to move small items – mimicking the action of a lazy susan. the ‘swingy’ bar stool features an accompanying footrest that allows its user to swing their legs, while perched comfortably on the chair. appropriately titled ‘rocky’, a swaying stool completes the collection. the lightweight seat, which not only moves forwards and back, but also side to side, features a handle that ensures the stool is easy to relocate.
