fabrica will exhibit a new project related to the creative process during maison et objet 2013 in paris at christian lacroix boutique – starting from the frame of mind that brings an idea into physical existence. stepping back from digital tools, the fabrica design team has developed a collection of hand drawings, scaled 1:1 compositions and representations made up of lines on paper; massimo lunardon, an artisan glass blower reads these 14 sketches (without measurements) and makes his own interpretation of them, bringing them to life in three dimension.

‘drawing glass’, the limited edition collection of 14 art works demonstrates how design relates to communication, how a designer succeeds to make an idea readable, and how the producer receives the main information to make an idea reality. the basis of using glass – a transparent and sensitive material – gives unique beauty to the objects, bringing the presence of the ink on drawings to real life. the series features the work of guests andrea trimarchi and simone farresin from studio formafantasma, sam baron, head of design at fabrica, and fabrica designers dean brown, charlotte juillard, giorgia zanellato, ryu yamamoto and valetina carretta.

three micro architectures take shape as a series of ‘shelters’, joined as a communal unit. the ordered and consistent intersections are interrupted by bold and floating shapes. together they form a collective geometry to become three vases of different heights.

when not in use and resting on a shelf, the bottle and the cup withdraw into their fantasy world, becoming part of the imaginary dockyard of a city yet to be built.

when the line becomes physical reality, a string is displayed on a simple geometric structure as if it was there, a kind of water color suspended and drying for eternity.
