treviso, italy-based creative lab fabrica will be presenting its latest assembly of objects at the venice architecture biennale this year. entitled ‘shifting perspective’, the exhibition will be comprised of two collections showing at the guadagni showroom.

‘down side up’ explores the medium that lies between experimentation and consumption. each design challenges the role of the shape, volume, direction and orientation of an object in varying its function and interpretation. by adding a few fundamental accessories such as legs, handles, hooks or hands, a simple basic wood unit is transformed into something completely new.

for ‘the riot act’ collection, 12 designers from fabrica were given an identical ceramic cylinder to work with. through a process of modification and addition of new elements, each design outcome reinterprets the form and function of the simple material.
