‘sipario container’ by ferruccio laviani for EGO

italian designer ferruccio laviani has created a collection of furniture for EGO entitled ‘new renaissance’. ‘sipario container’, one of the pieces, consists of an undulating wooden cabinet faced with aubusson tapesty. originally from the upper valley of the creuse in central france, this particular type of tapestry has developed from engravings and full-scale illustrations. the cabinet depicts a group of men and women working the land, surrounded by meadows and valleys. as typical with this type of woven artwork, the piece is surrounded by a frame of flowers and stylized foliage.

the custom cabinet was on show at salone del mobile during milan design week 2012.
