cows, pigs and sheep look down from the reverse painted glass panels onto the ornamental tiled ‘fleischerei bar’. the hundred year old
butchers’ shop by leipzig-based michael gzesiak is transformed into a highly ornate bar. the interior design tries to preserve the charm
and patina from the already aesthetically dense space with its original villeroy & boch ceramic tiles. the massive oak bar acts as the focal point,
reflecting on the prevailing square theme. a long bench covered with laths of ash is integrated as a pure linear form along the main wall.
the wooden elements break with the cold butchery atmosphere turning it into a pleasant environment to eat, drink and stay.
