amsterdam-based studio spitsbergled by dutch designers jeroen van leur and thijmen van der steen — has a knack for making subtle, beautifully crafted home decor and furniture elements. ‘floating light’ is no different; the ceiling-mounted unit creates an intimate atmosphere equally perfect for post-dinner drinks with friends or quiet moments in the bedroom.

the pendant is a minimal combination of fabric, light, and quality materials. a screen is stretched taunt around a ring of ash wood, with light provided by a single bulb above. when on, illumination hits the fabric, dispersing outwards in a soft, comfortable fashion. each ‘floating light’ is crafted to order by spitsberg in-house; also available is the ‘resting light’, a free-standing variation to the ceiling unit
