to mark their tenth anniversary, the acclaimed design duo fredrikson stallard celebrate by presenting 10 new works in a special exhibition called ‘momentum’. it comes a decade after their first show ‘gloves for an armless venus’ in new york, in which patrik fredrikson and ian stallard debuted their first major collection that ultimately set the foundation for their creative process and aesthetic — a continuously changing philosophy that wavers between craft and industry, the contextual, sculptural and the avant-garde.

on show during london design festival 2015 at their dramatic holborn headquarters, ‘‘momentum’ is ‘a celebration of the experimental and the rigorous, the unique versus the mass produced, the importance of conceptual and creative development underlining their aesthetics and beliefs‘, say fredrikson stallard. ‘but ‘momentum’ is also an anniversary of ten incredible engaging years of working with visionary patrons and craftspeople who have helped facilitate the development of true creativity into extraordinary works, and this show as a personal interlude towards future destinations‘, they conclude.

realized in collaboration with david gill gallery that represents the british studio, ‘momentum’ expresses fredrikson stallard’s diverse and intriguing creative developments over the past 10 years, while also debuting a collection of work that is entirely self-driven by their strong desire to create amazing objects whose existence is derived purely from their core ideologies and vision. these 10 new designs, which span across the realms of furniture, product, print and sculpture, are one-off, edition and transitory pieces that will only last for the duration of the event from september 23-27, 2015.
