l: the book’s front cover features ‘alquimista + tetes’ by robert stadler r: ‘XXL chair’ by tjepfurniture and interior design were largely driven by aesthetic revivals (of the 50’ies. 60’ies, 70’ies), functional aspects and the development of the furniture production technologies. for two decades and mostly due to the situation of having (too) many designers and (too) few manufacturers in this product area, there has not been much interaction between furniture design companies/production development and the designers. so, in recent years industrial designers are increasingly interested in graphic design, visual culture and communication processes. this has lead to the creation of furniture and interiors that go beyond what people would describe as ‘useful, comfortable, durable’.
