taiwan-based gridesign studio has collaborated with highly skilled craftsmen to create a four-piece bamboo set called ‘joint plate’. the name refers to the use of a hollow bamboo joint to produce different effects — bamboo tube and bamboo weaving — and deliver a unique craft in the world of furniture ware.

wanting to develop a soft contrast, gridesign studio has the dyed bamboo tube and kept the base as the original bamboo piece color. the overall pieces offer a warm and homey character to any interior, as well as artisanal charm. to obtain an inviting shape, the design adopts circular bases and soft edges. the two ends of the bamboo tube are in fact used as an axis line, later cut to create a radial structure from which round plates are extended and created using pine leaves bamboo weaving.
